Health is a basic human need; however, access to specialized medical services remains a significant challenge for people living in rural areas. While urban centers provide access to specialist doctors, advanced diagnostic facilities, and specialized treatments, rural communities often have limited availability of such services. Due to difficult terrain, inadequate health infrastructure, and financial constraints, patients frequently struggle to consult specialists or undergo necessary diagnostic tests. Consequently, many health conditions remain undiagnosed or untreated for extended periods, leading to complications that could be prevented with timely intervention.
Empathizing with these realities, Sambhav Nepal has initiated this project. The project aims to provide essential healthcare services at the local level, improving overall health outcomes and contributing to a healthier, more aware population. Ultimately, it seeks to dismantle various barriers to healthcare, ensuring that high-quality medical services are accessible to all individuals, regardless of their circumstances.
Under this Project, we shall conduct a two-day free health camp across various Rural municipalities and Municipalities in the Gorkha District. If feasible, a total of four health camps is planned to be conducted annually. By collaborating with the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, we are bringing specialized medical expertise directly to the doorsteps of rural communities. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists, medical officers, nurses, radiologists, pharmacists, etc., will provide on-site assessments, free essential medications, and structured referrals to ensure no patient is left without a clear path to recovery.
Project Areas
The project is being implemented across the Gorkha district to bring essential healthcare services directly to rural communities. The project will cover all rural municipalities and municipalities of Gorkha, ensuring that every individual can benefit from it.
Community and Local Government Support The project has received strong support from both the local government and the community. Local government authorities have actively contributed by assisting in key activities such as communication, coordination, and facilitating necessary administrative procedures. Likewise, community members have played an important role by participating in the health camps, helping with community mobilization, volunteering, and supporting smooth implementation. Their collective engagement has been instrumental in promoting ownership, ensuring sustainability, and contributing to the overall success of the project.
January 2026 Update
As of now, health camps have been successfully conducted in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality and Aarughat Rural Municipality with the active participation of the local communities. During the camps, participants’ health conditions were assessed through consultations, diagnostic tests were conducted, and basic medications were prescribed and distributed.
Referrals were provided for individuals requiring further or specialized medical care. Health workers from Bungkot Health Post and Aarughat Basic Hospital worked closely with the visiting medical team, ensuring effective service delivery and knowledge sharing. Through these two camps, we were able to benefit approximately 1,300 people across both rural municipalities. Further information is provided in the table below:
