Proposed Project

Our intension is to have the first local English Medium Primary school which will educate students from Nursery through to Class 5. With nine local surrounding villages these children will benefit and in future have the opportunity for a higher level of education providing a good base for each of them to continue onto High School.

Many projects focus on providing better facilities and stop at that. However in our minds we are thinking further ahead than just facilities. We don't want to see these children going back to work in the fields once they complete their Primary School Education. As a result of providing a sound English Medium base it will open the up many more opportunities than the current standard Nepalese Education, providing a brighter future for High School and University prospects.

This project structure includes purchasing a large piece of land for the building of seven fully furnished class rooms, one furnished staff room; one library furnished with educational books as well as extra curricular reading materials, games and activities that nurture intellectual curiosity and improve reading and critical thinking skills. Clean toilet facilities, constant clean water supply and a playground area for sporting activities catering for all the children. Also a generator or solar panel to enable late studies when required as there is no electricity facilities in village.

Throughout the duration of this project it will employ about 4000 local people from surrounding villages. Short term it is helping the local community with income sources while providing a long term plan for their children's future.

In total we plan that this teaching structure will take three years to complete as the current students will start English medium then each year with new Nursery enrolments after 3 years it will present us with a complete school full of students from Nursery to Class 5.  We anticipate that 250 students will benefit each year.

Based on a completion date of the new project being 2009, the current school is operating Nursery and Lower KG classes with poor quality teachers (not of an English Medium bases). To give these students the best opportunity once the project is complete these existing students will be able to start in Upper KG and Class 1 with quality English Medium teachers. These two current classes will be starting the following year as they have had a very basic schooling education so far.

The government expects that this poor local community can contribute their material and labour to construct community schools by themselves, but these communities are often too poor to do so. In the community, villagers realized that they desperately need quality schools for their children. They knew that if their young children could attend school, the villagers could focus on farming and better support their families. In addition
